Parallel Universes

Look what you’ve made me do! You’ve pushed me to write my second fiction piece with all your incredibly motivating comments on my first one. You have brought this on yourself, folks 🙂 I hope you enjoy reading this one too!

Alice sat languidly on her rocking chair and sipped her lemonade. It was a glorious summer afternoon and there was nothing she would rather do than watch her husband play with the twins in the garden and hear their sweet squeals of laughter. She couldn’t help but think how lucky she was. The universe had been so benevolent. She had had a blissful childhood and had married her high-school sweetheart. And now, she had her adorable twins and a staid life in the suburbs which she had grown accustomed to and rather fond of.

Soon she would have to start getting dinner ready. Meatloaf and roasted vegetables. She made a mental note to take the meat out of the fridge before prepping the vegetables. But the urge to snooze for a few more precious minutes took over….

She woke up with a start. How long had she been asleep?

She heard a familiar voice “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” She looked around and found herself back at the Tea Party in the comforting presence of the Hatter, the March Hare and the Dormouse. “Thank Goodness, it was just a dream” she thought, heaving a sigh of relief.
