2021 Publications

I hadn’t planned on writing this post. Not having written or published much this year, I didn’t see the point of writing an entire post for just 5 publications. But then it’s almost dusk in my part of the world and it’s drizzling softly outside–just the perfect setting to reminisce.

2021 was a crazy roller-coaster ride. My health and writing took some hard hits, but despite this year’s stormy weather, I’ve managed to stay afloat and get 5 pieces published with a Best Micro Fiction and a Best of the Net nomination. I feel a tinge of pride, and I don’t feel that often, so here goes.

Here’s my very short list of publications in 2021. I hope you enjoy reading them!

  1. Separation Anxiety in Nurture Literary. This is nominated for Best of the Net 2022!
  2. An Auspicious Dawn in Schuylkill Valley Journal
  3. Rotting Mangoes in Wigleaf. This is nominated for Best Micro-Fiction 2022! (YAY!)
  4. Mirage in National Flash Fiction Day’s FlashFlood
  5. Between the Nail and the Skin in Janus Literary

The highlight of this year, though, is my 8-year-old daughter’s very first publication! Her story appears in Little Thoughts Press’ first issue–Magical Winter. It’s chock-full of stories and poems only for kids and written mostly by kids. You can either download a copy for free or buy it by clicking here (It’ll make a great gift for the littles in your lives!)

I’m taking the rest of December off from writing. My parents are finally here after two long years and I want to spend as much time as I can with them. In 2022, I plan to write and submit a lot more. But if 2021 has taught me anything, it is to remember to pause, breathe, rest, and recharge. Self-care is going to be a priority in 2022.

Also, my search for the elusive literary agent who will champion my picture books continues. Will I finally meet them in 2022? Watch this space!

With that, here’s wishing the four readers of this blog a very happy holiday season and a wonderful 2022!
