The micro-fiction journey with #vss365 continues with today’s prompt – Poison.
A eunuch found them in her bedchamber, their mouths frothing, an empty vial of poison in her hand.
“The Emperor’s precious gem, his most beloved, the youngest Queen is with Allah now.” The royal hakim hung his head.
It took five burly soldiers to separate her rigid hand from the poet’s.
This story was inspired (loosely) by a monument dedicated to the Moorish poet Ibn Zaydun and his lady love, Princess Vallada, in Cordoba, Spain. I’ve written a post about it. Read it here. This little monument sits behind the towering minarets of the Mezquita and for some reason, their barely touching hands came to mind with this prompt.
