A story in 42 words in response to Yeah Write’s weekly microstory challenge. The prompt was ‘What is at the top?” Let me know what you think of it!
Food, clothing, shelter,
a job, a six figure salary,
a loving family, ego massages by scores of followers on social media,
Nirvana.
Are we at the top yet, Mr. Maslow*?
Not quite. Are we ever? It’s a bottomless pit turned upside down.
* Reference – Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Exactly! You said it. 😀
Thanks, Shantala!
Ha! I am a BIG fan of Maslow's hierarchy.
So am I, Nancy! Somehow it immediately popped up in my mind when I read the prompt 🙂 Thank you for your comment!
Indeed the pyramid has been turned upside down. Most superfluous things have become the most valued.
I read an anecdote on how wi-fi is now the most basic of needs, right in line with food, clothing and shelter!
Ego massage by followers on social media… Each you captured rightly. Nice take on the prompt.
Thank you, Shweta!
Excellent! In 42 words you have explained Maslow's hierarchy.
haha! Thanks, Subhodeep!
Wow! Wonderfully said!
Thank you so much, Amitji!
Hmmm. And the quest never ends
Rightly said, Chaitali! We go on climbing the pyramid, only to want more!
