It’s Nomination Season

‘Tis the season when literary magazines nominate some of their favorite pieces they published over the last year to various anthologies like the Pushcart Prize, Best MicroFiction, Best of the Net, etc.

I didn’t write or get a lot of pieces published last year (I say this every year). But the ones that did get published are some of my favorite pieces I’ve written. Especially the one non-fiction piece I wrote about my favorite comfort food—tomato rasam and living in London.

It found a loving home in Ruby Literary—a new journal for foodie narratives. The best part is the editors have nominated it for the Best of the Net anthology. Here’s the link to ‘Tempering’ in case you’re interested : https://rubyliterarypress.com/issue-one/hema-nataraju/?amp=1

(P.S. they’re reading submissions for their 3rd issue, so if you have something food-related, send it their way!)

Egged on my this nomination I’ve bravely (or stupidly) submitted something to a journal waaaay out of my league. We’ll see how that goes.

Anyway, I’m celebrating this nomination with spicy Nepali momos tonight and Mercury retrograde ends tomorrow, so hopefully it brings good news my way and your way too! 💕
